5th Annual Meeting in Athens, Greece
Athens in Greece welcomed the European Cellulose Insulation Association (ECIA) to hold its 5th Annual General Meeting in their historical city in the Mediterranean on 24th – 27th September 2018.
European cellulose insulation manufacturers together with their closest associates from Canada and the United Sates gathered together for the main event of the year . During the event all the important topics were discussed and discussions were held regarding the superior product characteristics of Cellulose Fiber Insulation.
In the future the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) approach will be to guide the building sector into a more ecological direction, which will benefit the CFI as one of the most ecological industrially manufactured insulation materials. Renewable, recycled energy savings will be an important factor in todays modern economy, according to the experts on the sustainability of buildings.
During the discussions it was noted that the fire safety of high-rise buildings should be assessed to be at a level where the whole construction should be supplied with automatic fire extinguishers that will contribute towards protecting the habitants against fire and smoke. Cellulose fibre insulation can be installed making the construction a very fire safe building even though it is classified as a combustible material. CFI burns very slowly tolerating extremely high temperatures compared to non-combustible materials that have a relatively low melting point. The experts highlighted also that the smoke of CFI burning is not producing cyanide fumes.
The meeting was presented by Mr. Pasi Typpö of Termex, who was very confident regarding the prosperity of the branch. ´The construction field must pay close attention to the contribution of CO2-emissions in the material level as well as the energy consumption of the used phase of the building. Given the fact every single material has its ecological footprint, ours seems to be very light´, stated Mr. Typpö.
The Board of the Directors for the next year is Mr. Marcel Bailey of CWA, Mr. Mojmír Urbánek of CIUR, Mr. Pasi Typpö of Termex and Mr. Wolfgang Lackner of CPH.“
